Days 5 & 6 – Gratitude

Whoa I sure picked a mixed bag of weeks to do this gratitude check! Sometimes, there are periods in our lives when it seems as if the walls are all crashing in around us. Days, weeks, maybe even months at a time when nothing seems to go right. Doesn’t necessarily have to be all major loss and destruction, just enough sad or wrong things happen to start you on a downward spiral. Or so it seems. Still, you can always look around you and say that things could be worse. That is somewhat of a comfort  but just being thankful for all the things that didn’t go wrong isn’t enough after a while. I believe a person is happiest when they are growing, learning, creating, in general being more and accomplishing new things. Otherwise we stagnate.

Monday was another one of those days. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, just one more day at the barn and back at the boat trying to get things done. But yet another promised job contract fell through. That’s 3 in two weeks and not apparently from anything I did or didn’t do, just a problem in the other persons’ lives that prevented them from following through with their own plans. Sometimes, we’re just somewhere on the ladder of things that aren’t going right.

Yesterday I ended up on a whirlwind trip out-of-town. Not with the best results but, again, having to be thankful for all the bad things that didn’t happen. A day in which true friends really shone through. Huge gratitude points for that.
